An Implant Bridge, Placed Badly, Made Right

Badly placed implants, uneven gum lines and infected front teeth, behind temporaries she was embarrassed by.

She came to Dr. Reshad with a severe problem: badly placed implants, poorly positioned gum lines, irregular gum margins, infected front teeth, and pain. She was embarrassed by her front temporaries and did not feel she was getting the highest level of care. The left and right sides of her smile were completely different. After some research online, she came to have it solved once and for all.

Arrival

The crown, and the implant under it

A comprehensive evaluation came first, and all of the treatment was planned and designed at the outset. She needed more implants at the front of her mouth to stabilize her smile and give it longevity.

Planning on the model

Nothing irreversible until the smile is approved

The combination of skill, attention to detail and foresight is what lets the final outcome be seen before treatment starts. No irreversible step is taken until the aesthetics are approved by the patient.

She evaluated the wax-up on the model: the smile design is done on a stone model and presented to the patient, first as she arrived, then as the plan proposed. A patient-approved wax-up is also what the precision-milled CAD-CAM surgical guide for implant placement is made from, and it is the tool for making beautiful provisional restorations that the patient can judge objectively. Dr. Reshad is one of the few prosthodontists in the country who performs every laboratory step himself, which keeps full clinical control of the treatment in one pair of hands.

Growing the gum back

Dr. Reshad's pontic development technique creates new papillae and natural gum contours where they had been destroyed. Here, most of the gum lost to infection was brought back and kept.

The result

Ten years on

A perfect smile, for a patient who arrived with major damage to her smile, her front teeth and her gums. She recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the smile Dr. Reshad made for her.

Every case is planned around one person's anatomy. Individual results vary, and what was right for this patient may not be right for you.
