Teaching Doctors Around the World

Alongside his Beverly Hills practice, Dr. Mamaly Reshad teaches full-arch implant treatment and complex reconstruction to other dentists: as former Chairman of Fixed and Operative Dentistry at USC, as gIDE faculty, and at clinical meetings around the world. His reason is a saying he repeats: if you really understand the topic, you can teach it.

gIDE Faculty · Twenty Years

Twenty Years at the Front of the Room

For twenty years Dr. Reshad has taught on the faculty of the Global Institute for Dental Education (gIDE) in Los Angeles, the programme founded and led by Dr. Sascha Jovanovic. It is where dentists from around the world come for advanced training in implant and aesthetic dentistry, and where he has watched a generation of clinicians pass through and become leaders in their own right.

Alongside the lectures he runs an international mentorship programme in which dentists travel to Beverly Hills to observe his cases. Dentists, surgeons and periodontists also refer their most complex reconstructions to the practice.

Study clubs, the large implant and aesthetic symposia, and programmes abroad make up the rest of a teaching calendar that runs alongside the practice.

For Patients

Why It Matters If You Never Attend a Lecture

“Knowing that your doctor is a teacher means that he knows the job well,” Dr. Reshad says. “If you really understand the topic, then you can teach it. Otherwise you cannot.”

A lecture puts the work itself in front of other dentists. “If you are teaching something and you're showing slide after slide of your work on a big screen and blowing up whatever thing that you're doing onto a massive screen, it shows that you're meticulous enough to be able to do that.”

“When you're teaching you become more meticulous in your attention to detail and execution.”

"I have had the privilege of being one of Dr. Reshad's students in the study of dentistry at USC and he has not only helped me accomplish the most complicated cases in dentistry but has also been a true mentor."
Dr. Lousine Kirakosian, DDS
"Dr. Reshad is an amazing professor. His knowledge base and experience show through in his work. I would highly recommend him to anyone that wants to learn about complex dentistry."
