Accessibility Statement

ArtLab Dentistry wants every patient, family member and referring doctor to be able to use this website. If anything here is hard to use, we want to hear about it, and we will help you by phone in the meantime.

If you have trouble using this site

Call or email us and we will help you directly, take your details by phone, and fix the problem on the site. We aim to respond within two business days.

If you cannot use the online enquiry form, call us and we will take your details over the phone. When you write, it helps to tell us the page address and what happened, and which browser or assistive technology you were using.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, at three levels: A, AA and AAA. drreshad.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard; they are listed under known limitations below, each with a workaround and a target date.

What we do

  • Every deployment of this site runs an automated WCAG 2.1 AA check (axe-core) on every page and fails if a serious or critical barrier is found.
  • We test by keyboard alone and with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, at 200% and 400% zoom, and with reduced-motion and increased-contrast settings turned on.
  • Every image carries a written description; every form field has a label; errors are announced.
  • Videos with speech carry captions. Videos that move on their own can be paused.
  • We do not use a third-party accessibility overlay or toolbar. The text-size, contrast, motion and link-underline options in the panel at the right edge of the screen are part of this site and change the page itself.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the site have limits we know about:

  • Embedded YouTube videos on some service pages. The player is YouTube's own. We request captions and full controls, but the player's internal controls are outside our code. Every embedded video is also described in the surrounding text. Call us if you would like a summary of any video.
  • The homepage background film. It is decorative and carries no information, and it plays silently. A Pause button sits at the bottom-left of the film, and it does not play at all when your device asks for reduced motion.

Compatibility

This site is tested with current versions of Safari and Chrome on macOS, Safari on iOS, and the VoiceOver screen reader. It is built to work with any modern browser and assistive technology that follows web standards; we have not yet tested with Windows screen readers such as NVDA or JAWS and will say so here once we have.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of this site relies on HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS and JavaScript, used in combination with your browser and any assistive technology or plug-ins you have installed.

How we assessed it

ArtLab Dentistry assessed this site itself: automated testing of every page with axe-core and Lighthouse, and manual testing by keyboard, screen reader, zoom and colour contrast checks. The assessment is repeated after every significant change and at least quarterly.
