Veneers Case 4 · Veneers · Cosmetic
Cause First, Then Veneers
Her gums were receding and her front teeth were getting shorter.
Her case is a model of planning, communication and execution. Her treatment involved a team of skilled specialists led by Dr. Reshad.
Her chief complaint was that her gums had receded and that her upper front teeth were getting smaller, and breaking.

Before and after

Biological, mechanical, chemical
A comprehensive evaluation showed a biological, mechanical and chemical cause for her problems, and those factors had to be controlled before any treatment. If the cause of a disease is not eliminated, the problem simply returns.
As a prosthodontist with years of training and teaching in diagnosis, Dr. Reshad has developed specific systems for diagnosing and treating most dental problems with proper long-term solutions. Her evaluation showed that she was brushing too hard and too aggressively, and a targeted diet analysis found the cause of her tooth wear: extrinsic acid erosion. Certain foods, the frequency of her intake, and the aggressive brushing had damaged both teeth and gums.
The disease was fully controlled before treatment began.
The smile she wanted, drawn first
The second step was digital smile design, to arrive, with the help of a very visual patient, at exactly the smile she wanted. The master technicians involved in the planning made a mock-up and a surgical guide, so that every member of the team, she included, could see what treatment was required and how it would look.

Her own tissue, by microsurgery
A large gum recession was apparent, and only gum grafting could correct it. The grafting technique uses the patient's own stem cells and microsurgery, for a predictable result with minimal downtime; healing at two weeks was remarkable, with minimal discomfort.
Since 2006
After about three months of gum maturation, and to her direction, a long-lasting smile was made with minimal-preparation veneers. She has been enjoying it since 2006.

Before and after

Every case is planned around one person's anatomy. Individual results vary, and what was right for this patient may not be right for you.
